Multi Factor Authentication
Starting early in 2024, Salesforce is enforcing Multi Factor Authentication for all users in order to bolster the security of the platform.
One of the major causes of security breaches is the ability to login with a username and password alone.
This enforcement will mean all users will need to use an additional authentication method to be able to login to their account.
The method used here may vary for your school - please contact your IT department for further details
For example, your IT department may have already enabled an authentication method for other IT services such as Microsoft, which could also be used to authenticate the login to Salesforce.
Salesforce Authenticator
The best and easiest method is to install the Salesforce Authenticator application on your mobile phone
This has the added benefit of using the geolocation ability on the phone so that it can know where you are to log you in automatically.
Download the Salesforce Authenticator App from the following links:
To setup, please see this article: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.salesforce_authenticator_add_account.htm&type=5
Mobile Alternative
If using a mobile phone for authentication is not an option, then you could install a third-party authenticator on your local desktop device
There are various third-party solutions to this - please contact your IT department for details
This is not ideal; as it means the authentication device is on the same device as the access – so a higher security risk.
