Creating a Simple Dashboard (Classic)
Creating Dashboards from reports in Schoolworks and Salesforce is a straightforward process, thanks to the tools already built into the system by Salesforce.
Useful Information about Dashboards
You will need to have the access permissions to the Tab Bar, to report folder and to the data you wish to add a dashboard for. Please check this with your System Administrator.
Dashboards are updated by Schoolworks and Salesforce reports, so before you can create a dashboard you need to find or create the report that will provide the required data.
Not all reports can be used by dashboards.
Dashboards can be accessed via the Reports and Dashboard screens and are stored in folders.
Some Dashboards are updated by reports that run over night and some will need to be manually refreshed by clicking on the 'Refresh' button.
Step by Step Guide
You can find Dashboards either in
- The Reports Screen
- On The Tab Bar
If you wish to add the Dashboard Tab to your Tab Bar please see the link below.Â
Customising your Navigation Bar
When accessing the Dashboard screen, you will see all the dashboards that you have created.
In the top left hand corner of the screen click on ‘Go to Dashboard List.
Click on New Dashboard. This will open the following screen.
The Components button will be highlighted and there is a display of the different types of dashboards you can choose. For the purposes of this demo the Pie and bar graphs options will be used.
Drag the dashboard type you want to use into one of the frames on the right, or more if you want to create multiple dashboards
Click on the data source button in the left hand frame
Click on Reports, you will now see a list of the report folders you have access to.
Drag the report name over and drop it on to the graph, this may take some time to complete depending on the size of the report. If this is not the data required remove the report by clicking on the ‘x’ below the graph and then add another report.
Give the Dashboard a title.
Click on Save, give the Dashboard a name and save into the appropriate folder. To allow access to other users, the dashboard should be saved into an accessible folder.
You should now see the Dashboard on your Home screen. The Home Screen only supports a limited number of Dashboards.
Clicking on the Dashboard on your home screen will open up the source report.
